Shirley Mae Synon
Shirley Mae (Harmony) Synon was born on September 10, 1929 in Kemmerer, Wyoming to Henry and Jessie (Vodneck) Harmony. She grew up in the coal mining camps, including Blazon, before moving to Diamondville, Wyoming. Shirley was the eldest of three children.
In May of 1945, at 15, Shirley suffered the loss of her father.
She completed her education, graduating from Kemmerer High School in May of 1947 where she attended most school functions, dances, and parties. After high school, Shirley entered nursing school and began her 30+ year nursing career, which included working at The Dalles General Hospital as the evening charge and maternity nurse, and then working at Columbia Park State Hospital until its closure.
In December of 1948, Shirley met Benjamin Harrison Synon. After finishing nursing school, they married at the Harmony family home in Diamondville, Wyoming on February 23, 1951. Ben’s work with the Union Pacific Railroad took them to Oregon, Washington, and Idaho. They settled in The Dalles, Oregon in 1955.
In 1976 Ben and Shirley bought their first cherry orchard. Their son joined the operation after graduating college and together expanded Synon Orchards.
Shirley was an avid and successful gardener, cook, baker, and loved to travel. Ben and Shirley were able to travel to Europe with others from church. Her favorite was the trip to the Holy Lands. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Peter Catholic Church in The Dalles, Oregon.
Shirley is survived by her daughter Cheryl and husband Mitchell; son Ben and wife Susan; daughter Chrystie and husband Randy; 12 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, daughter, great grandson, and husband.
Viewing visitation will be held at Spencer, Libby and Powell from 3 pm to 7 pm, Thursday, June 15, 2023. Funeral services will be held on June 16, 2023 with recitation of the Rosary starting at 10:30 am. Funeral mass and graveside services will follow at 11am at St. Peter Catholic Church in The Dalles, Oregon. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Peter Catholic Church in The Dalles.

Mary Wilbern passed away May 28, 2023, at her home in The Dalles, OR. She was born to James and Margaret Diamond in Greenock, Scotland on October 27, 1935. She is preceded by three siblings and her parents. She is survived by her husband, Don, her children Jim (Julie), David (Angie), Gerry (Paula), Donna (Kurt), Tracey (Scott), and Chris (Sarah), grandchildren Leslie, Jenna (Stanley), Patrick, Scott (Bena), Eric (Jolleen), Robin, Shannon, Mathew, Ian (Tamia), Jordan (Katie), Evelyn, and Adaline, and great grandchildren Norah, Cadence, Taryn, Isla, Stevie, Jade, and Westley.
Mary met her husband in 1963 when he was stationed in Scotland with the US Navy. They married on July 3, 1964. Together, they came to the United States in May of 1965. They eventually settled in The Dalles in 1969 when the family purchased Ted Walker’s Cleaners. While the business was being established, she worked at (The Dalles Hospital) as a nurse’s assistant. Beginning in the early 1980s she worked for the family business, Don’s Cleaners, until she retired in 2003. In her retirement she spent her time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Among their favorite memories are receiving the thoughtful care packages put together for each child for holidays and birthdays from their nan.
A Catholic Mass will take place June 9, 2023 at 11:00 am at the St. Peters Catholic Church with an internment to follow at St. Peters Cemetery in The Dalles, OR. Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home in care of arrangements.

Robert Joe Lundin, 67, of Mosier, OR, passed away peacefully at home.
Robert, also known as Bob or "Heavy" was born in Shelby, MT to Charles and Della Lundin. The family later moved to Libby, MT where he attended school until graduation. He then entered the US ARMY, got married (later divorced), and fathered three children.
Bob enjoyed his family, first and foremost. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, tinkering with cars, and numerous arts and crafts.
Bob served in the US Army, active and reserve, receiving an honorable discharge after 15 1/2 years. He was stationed in Ft. Jackson, Ft Bliss, Fort Carson, and Germany. He also worked in the oilfield in Oilmont, MT. Bob later moved to Tacoma, WA, his daughter followed him a year later. Along with working, Bob also attended college and earned his associates in computer programming, Top of his class.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, a nephew Seth, his best friend Wayne Schwenke, and other family and friends.
Bob is survived by his only daughter, Amy Lundin (TJ) Pecore, of SC, two sons, Robbie and Joey, of MT, Three sisters, Debbie (Dave), Diana (Kevin), Danita (Mike) all of WA. Also survived by seven grandkids, Cody, RJ, Jasmine, Brooke, Shantel, Treflis, Makala and spouses. Nine great-grandkids, and numerous special nieces, nephews, and more family and friends.
Services, with military honors, will be held on May 3, 2023, 5:00pm at American Legion Post #137 in Carson, WA. A future service will also be held in SC.
