To know Jack was to love Jack.
Jack was born April 1st, 1928, in Ashe County North Carolina to Roby Frank Hardy Osborne and Carrie Inez Phillips Osborne. Jack did not have the easiest childhood, but he always remained positive and made the best out of whatever situation he was in. Growing up he loved riding his horse Champion, playing football, and reading.
Jack served in the United States Navy as an AN1 working on airplanes. He was stationed in Adak, Alaska and Corpus Christi, Texas.
After he left the Navy he met Florence Blevins and they were married in 1952 in Elkton, Maryland. They spent many years together and both had a passion for putting their families first. On family vacations Jack always told his kids "We will have fun if it kills us." They always welcomed family and friends with food, coffee, and laughter.
Jack had a lot of different jobs. He did farm work, factory work, freight driving. He worked at Northwest Aluminum for over 20 years. Even in retirement Jack always gave 110% at whatever he did. He loved having company over and was famous for his pancake breakfasts, other than that he loved being outside doing yard work and cleaning up the neighborhood around him.
He was preceded in death by his wife Florence Ruby Osborne in 2006. Arlene was born in Portland, Oregon to Twila May (Armstrong) Andersen and Herbert Dale Andersen. She was the middle child of 3. She loved telling stories about growing up and running around her neighborhood in NW Portland. She graduated from Girl’s Polytech in 1954. She worked at Montgomery Wards where she met her husband, Waldo Joseph Goodman. The story was they had the exact same job but because of the times he made more per hour, so the joke was always she married him for his money. They were married in Portland, Oregon on June 26th, 1955. Moved to Long Beach, CA for a few years while Waldo was in the Navy. After returning to Portland she worked at a bank. They moved to The Dalles area around 1963. Bought their home on West 8th street and lived there until her death except for two years when they had to go to Texas while Waldo waited for the aluminum plant to open back up. From the time they moved to The Dalles Arlene was a housewife/stay-at-home mom. They had their first daughter in 1964 followed by another daughter in 1970. Arlene loved animals, being with her grandchildren, doing crossword puzzles, watching her favorite shows, trips to the beach and would refer to Mt. Hood as “her” mountain. She cared deeply for people and would often give support to people that needed a hand up. She volunteered for many years as a driver and helping with mailings for Child Evangelism Fellowship.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years in 2011 and her daughter Melinda Lee Goodman in 1994. She is survived by her sister Carol M (Andersen) Lofgren and brother Gordon H Andersen, her daughter Debra J (Goodman) Lawrence, granddaughters, Alexis N Goodman, Jill R (Davis) Niemeyer, Jenell M (Davis) Iorg and grandson Kyle K Davis. Great grandkids Lizzy, Garrus, Savvy, Avra and Ty. And many adopted “grandkids” that called her grandma.

Patricia Ann Skiles, a lifelong resident of Sherman County until recent years passed away peacefully at the Oregon Veterans Home December 14, 2020, four days short of her 90th Birthday.
Patricia was born on December 18, 1930, the oldest of two children to Lawrence E. Kaseberg and Marguerite A. (Foss) Kaseberg in The Dalles, Oregon. She, along with her brother, Larry, grew up on the family farm west of Wasco, Oregon.
Patricia went to Grade School and High School at Wasco School, graduating from Wasco High School in 1948. She was always quick to point out that she was the only girl in her graduating class of three.
Patricia enrolled in Oregon State College, now OSU in the fall of 1948 and pledged to become a member of Delta Gamma Sorority. She developed life-long friends with her sorority sisters and maintained those friendships and connections over the many years of her life. While studying Home Economics at OSC, Patricia worked in the post office of the Memorial Union. Her attention to details served her well here and in the many activities she was involved with over her life.
Patricia married the love of her life, Richard (Dick) L. Skiles on August 24, 1952 at the family ranch home. She followed Dick during his years in the U.S. Air Force, living in Enid, OK., San Antonio, TX. and Sacramento, CA. They returned home to farm in 1957 and resided on the family farm until 2001. In later years and with the failing health of Dick, they retired to The Dalles where she lived for several years following the passing of Dick in 2002. She lived her final years at Flagstone Retirement Home and the Oregon Veterans Home.
In raising her children, Patricia served as Cub Scout Den Mother, Mother Adviser for Sherman Assembly, Rainbow for Girls and was an active supporter of 4-H and High School athletics. She was active in Eastern Star, Daughters of the Nile and supported Dick on many wheat trips during his service to the Oregon Wheat Growers League and the Oregon Wheat Commission. Patricia was active in and served as treasurer of the Wasco United Methodist Church for many years.
Patricia loved her 6 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and a 9th great grandchild arriving this coming spring. She was always interested in knowing what ‘everyone was up to…’ and lined her window sill by her chair with photos of them. She followed them with their high school sports and activities regularly. OSU Beaver sports and Blazer basketball were staples for her…
Patricia is survived by her two children, Susan Fisher (Ralph), Sublimity, OR., and Shawn Skiles (Peggy), Dufur, OR., Her grandchildren, Sara Scott (Brian), Sandy, OR., Ryan Fisher (Kristianna), Tumalo, OR., Staci Calkins (Alex), Medford, OR., Erik Fisher (Lauren), Silverton, OR., Kristen Skiles, The Dalles, OR., Megan Neuberger (Will), Dufur, OR., Her great grandchildren, Uriah and Cole Scott, Troy, Linnea and Tobin Fisher, Emma Grace Fisher, Hudson and Rhett Neuberger and a Brother, Larry Kaseberg.
The family extends a grateful heart to the staff at both Flagstone Retirement Home and the Oregon Veteran’s Home as well as the special care given by Sarah Fain. You will not be forgotten.
In leu of flowers, the family suggest memorials to: Wasco Methodist Church, Rainbow for Girls Scholarship Program or the Sherman County Historical Society.
Graveside service will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at 2 pm at Odd Fellows Cemetery in The Dalles, Oregon. Viewing at Spencer Libby and Powell Funeral Home will be Saturday morning from 10 am to 11:30 am.
